About an hour drive outside of the city is a wonderful place called Calm Harbour beach. It is the crème de la crème of beaches in Nova Scotia in my opnion, and certainly my most favourite of them all. If the miles of white sand or the perfectly timed waves rolling in don't win you over, the hiking trails certainly will.
If you follow the sandy beach to the end you will come to the trail head which will lead you on a journey to a number of secluded smaller beaches. The 2.5 mile hike is worth the trip itself, with every turn leading to more beauty to be admired.
The end of the trail was less travelled then the beginning, and it felt as if we were completely alone with the space, filled with wonder and peace.
On our way back we got to watch the sun slowly disappear into the ocean. The water was warm, and the only thing that could be heard was the waves and the seagulls. Clam Harbour Beach is a perfect get-away from the city, and place to relax and enjoy our incredible coast. I can't wait to come back to this place one day again soon.
